Guillaume Faury, président exécutif d’Airbus, voulait une décision claire à annoncer d’ici mi-2022. Il n’aura pas attendu jusque-là. A l’occasion des résultats du 1er trimestre, le 4 mai, le constructeur européen a confirmé son ambition de produire 75 appareils de la famille A320 NEO par mois dès 2025 “afin de répondre à la demande des clients”. Il a pour cela dû convaincre l’ensemble de sa chaîne d’approvisionnement, fragilisée par deux années de crise, d’embarquer avec lui dans un projet aux dimensions sans précédent, qui doit le conduire à produire plus de 900 avions par an dans trois ans à peine. Et notamment Safran, dont le directeur général Olivier Andriès avait émis des doutes quant à la pertinence d’un tel niveau de cadence.
Pour le patron d’Airbus, la situation est désormais limpide. “Au-delà de 2022, nous constatons la poursuite d’une forte croissance de la demande d’avions commerciaux, tirée par la famille A320”, a-t-il ainsi déclaré.
